Searching by category is the easy way to browse
the Lighthouse Square database by topic and to find Web sites in
related areas. You need no special commands or keystrokes -
everything's point-and-click.
Use Category Search when you're looking for
information within an area of general interest. Lighthouse
Square's database is an extensive collection of selected and
reviewed Web sites.

Suppose your looking for a place to buy a used
textbooks. Look at the list of categories displayed in the Shopping
section of the Lighthouse Square homepage. Click on Online
Stores and that category page appears - click on Books
& Art in the directory menu on the left, then click on Bookstores, then Nonfictionand finally
Textbook
Bookstores.

You'll end up with
a of sites selected by our editors. This list appears in
alphabetical order.
The site list is
filled with links to place where you can purchase used textbooks.
Just click on the title to get transported to that site.
It works the same
no matter what you need. Start with the most general categories
and narrow your focus as you go.
When you get to the
page with a list of sites, you'll see a summary of categories you
passed through at the top of the list. In the case above for
example you would see Shopping — Online Stores — Books
& Art — Bookstores — Nonfiction — Textbook Bookstores
— Used Textbooks above the list of sites in this category.
With this path you
always know where you are and where you've been. You can always go
back to any section of the path just by clicking on that section.
With Lighthouse Square's Category Search, it is almost
